Genre; Young Adult, Fantasy
Simple synopsis; Katniss Everdeen is a normal girl living in District 12, the poorest of all 12 Districts in Panem. Her life changes the day of the reaping when she volunteers as tribute to take the place of her sister who was picked to play in The Hunger Games. This is a novel that tackles many different topics such as dictatorship, love and above all survival of the fittest. I’m not sure what more of a summary I can put without giving anything away.
Opinion; I was very lucky, despite all the hype, to read this book with no inkling as to what happens and I think this helped me escape into it. If anyone else is lucky enough not to know too much about it I think you’ll like it better for the simple fact you’ll find it tense at all the right moments. A few people I know who knew all the storyline found the book boring because they knew what was going to happen. Whenever I got a spare moment I couldn’t put it down, as I struggle to get into books this should show just how gripping the novel is, very well thought out and extremely well executed. I thought the concept seemed fairly original to me, I know of other stories similar to it but none are equal when it comes to a well thought out story line that never disappoints. Katniss is a brilliant character as she is very easy to relate to in most aspects and I think this is an important quality when writing a book that deals with so many different and sometimes difficult situations, you wouldn’t want a character that’s too arrogant or selfish.
Recommend too; Anyone and everyone even though I know there will be people out there who don’t like it I’d say everyone should give it a chance first!

Anyone else watch tonight? What were your thoughts on the art work? With the exception of Copyright I thought they were all pants! Especially Pure Evil who just seemed to have the same picture over and over just with different colours!
Another thing that annoys me is how Lord Sugar is taking a shine to Adam, I really dislike Adam. Fair enough he sold really well tonight but all he does is bitch and moan and is constantly two faced about his peers, is that really someone you’d want to go into business with?
Really glad Laura has gone though, it seems her main (and only) strength is sales and even then she has been beat most weeks by people who aren’t particularly sales-y.
